Board of Directors

The APS Board of Directors is responsible for the overall management of the society, determining the society’s overall strategy and advancing APS’ mission of fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and global community dedicated to science and society.

Council of Representatives

The APS Council of Representatives brings specialized expertise to our organization's leadership and oversees science policy and advocacy, as well as funding and recognition and APS membership matters such as units.

APS leadership opportunities

The Society’s strength lies in the varied expertise and experiences of its members. APS depends on members who share their talents and serve in volunteer roles as leaders, providing guidance on all manners of issues important to the physics community.

APS accepts self-nominations year-round from all members for service on APS committees and the Board of Directors.
