What is APS doing?
Just as we have for over 125 years, APS is standing by our core values and speaking out for scientists and the scientific community.
At midnight last night, government funding expired, closing down the government of the United States. Scientists across the country and beyond will feel the impacts of this shutdown; damage will ripple far outside our physics communities.
This session will be presented by Dan Berger, an Academic Fellow at Cornell Law School. There will be dedicated time for Q&A.
Physics is a core science for understanding Earth’s climate, and our membership encompasses thousands of experts in crucial fields.
Right now, many international students and researchers across the U.S. and around the world are facing anxiety and uncertainty about their futures.
How can I help?

Across the scientific community, creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported is essential. At APS, physicists of all backgrounds and experiences are building networks grounded in our core values.
Science drives progress, but only if we keep investing in it.
