New for 2026: A single centralized conference experience

The 2026 CU*iP will look a little different—this year, we're piloting one centralized conference instead of multiple sites. Because this is a pilot, space will be limited to make sure the event is engaging and meaningful for every student who attends. After the conference, APS will assess the best format for CU*iP in 2027 and beyond.

Who should attend

This conference encourages applications from undergraduate physics, engineering, and science majors. All undergraduate students who are excited to build a welcoming, inclusive physics community and connect with peers who share their interests are encouraged to attend. We specifically encourage applications from:

  • Undergraduate students currently enrolled in a college/university in the U.S.
  • Undergraduate students 18 and over
  • Students from backgrounds traditionally not well-represented in physics
  • Community college students
  • First-generation college students
  • Undergraduate students who have not attended previously

Canadian applicants may apply to attend the conference site in Canada, and other applicants living outside the United States may attend the Gender Inclusive Community virtual events.

All attendees must comply with the APS code of conduct and APS Gender Inclusive Community norms.

How to apply and register

You will need a free APS account to apply to attend. If you don't already have an one, you can create a free APS account before applying.

Applications close December 4, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Registration fees

The registration fee is $45.

After applying to attend the conference, applicants will be accepted or declined. If you have been accepted, you will need to register to confirm your attendance. The registration fee helps to offset some conference costs, including lodging and meals. Lodging and meals will be provided for registered participants.

Travel and housing

Do not make travel arrangements until you receive an email from APS with an invitation to register to attend the conference. Registered participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel. Your academic department may be able to provide assistance with travel costs.

APS will cover lodging and meals for registered participants. Registered participants will be assigned to a room that is shared with one other individual; each participant will have their own bed. Participants may specify roommate preferences on the registration form; otherwise, roommates will be randomly assigned.

Poster presentation

Accepted applicants will be invited to submit poster information during the registration process. Poster presenters will be contacted directly with details about the poster session.

An inclusive and welcoming environment

The conference has no dress code, and we encourage students to be comfortable, as well as prepared for possible weather conditions. CU*iP supports students from all backgrounds in advancing their education and careers in physics, and we take special consideration to ensure that our events are welcoming and accessible.

Dietary restrictions and accessibility needs

You can inform us of any dietary restrictions or accessibility needs during the registration process.
