Nitya Ravi is a fourth-year physics and astronomy Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Rochester. She earned a B.S. in Astrophysics and Applied Mathematics from UCLA in 2022. As a member of the DESI collaboration, Nitya uses large-scale galaxy surveys to study galaxy kinematics and dark matter in galaxies. She is interested in how a galaxy’s evolution is affected by its dark matter and its local environment. In 2025, she received the University of Rochester Donald M. and Janet C. Barnard Fellowship for her research and her commitment to mentorship, outreach, and service in her department and field.
