Jeff Lewandowski is the director of publishing at APS.

    In his current role at APS, Jeff is focused on designing and delivering strategies to:

    • Grow, expand, and diversify the APS publications portfolio
    • Sustainably transition APS’s journals to open access
    • Ensure APS publications, products, and related services meet the open science needs of researchers, institutions, funders, and other stakeholders going forward

    In previous roles at APS, he has overseen global sales and journals marketing, led the strategic planning and launches of new journals, contributed to public policy pertaining to publications, and participated in leading a number of Society-wide initiatives.

    Prior to joining APS, Jeff was senior publisher for the Americas at IOP Publishing, where he was responsible for a portfolio of journals, books, and publishing partnerships with esteemed scientific societies including the American Astronomical Society, the Biophysical Society and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. He managed the IOP Editorial and Science Office in Washington. DC, led publishing teams based in both the U.S. and United Kingdom, and collaborated across departments and regions as part of IOPP’s business development function.

    Jeff earned a bachelor of science in biology with a minor in mathematics from the University of Richmond and his master of science in cell biology and molecular genetics at the University of Maryland. He is actively involved with a number of publishing industry organizations and has presented talks at a variety of events. Beyond work, Jeff treasures spending time with his family and rescue dogs and enjoys film, music, books and cooking. He has been an avid baseball fan for as long as he can remember.
