Alejandro Adem

Alejandro Adem is president of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and a faculty member at the University of British Columbia. A mathematical researcher with over 70 published articles, Adem currently serves as chair of the Global Research Council Governing Board.
Adem previously served as CEO and scientific director of Mitacs and director of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the National University of Mexico and his Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the American Mathematical Society, and the Canadian Mathematical Society.
