The NMC mentoring session ends with the spring semester and mentee/mentor applications are paused during the summer. Complete this form to express interest in becoming a part of the NMC as a mentee or mentor.

Being part of the NMC

The NMC advances APS’ mission of fostering a vibrant global community dedicated to science and society. We welcome students and mentors who share this mission.

Students who enjoy a variety of mentoring relationships are more productive, successful, and content with their careers than those without such a rich "constellation,” so we encourage mentees to connect with multiple mentors within the program.

Benefits of being a mentee

By having a mentor and a structured mentoring experience through the NMC, you can benefit from the knowledge and experience shared by a professional physicist in your area of interest.

Benefits of being a mentor

Invest in creating a welcoming and supportive physics community and future for students by mentoring undergraduate and graduate physics students. Physicists at any career level in any sector may participate. Sign-ups open annually in the fall.

NMC Student Emergency Grants

The NMC Student Emergency Grants, formerly Emergency and Experience Grants (EMERGE), supports NMC mentees enrolled in U.S. institutions (including the 5 territories), who are facing sudden financial emergencies so they can continue their physics studies and earn their degrees. The EMERGE Fund is made possible with generous support from Kenton and Amy Brown and other generous donors.
